Former Senate President, Pius Anyim, has denied any association with the G5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, adding that he remains a committed member of the PDP.
The G5, also known as the Integrity Group, comprises the governors of Rivers State and the leader of the group, Nyesom Wike; Benue, Samuel Orton; Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu; Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and Oyo, Seyi Makinde.
The aggrieved governors had called for the resignation of the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, over the alleged lopsidedness in the party’s hierarchy.
But Ayim, in a statement he signed and made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday night while reacting to a news report (not Sunday PUNCH), said, “I want to state upfront that at no time was I part of the G5 governors leaders.

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has emerged Man of The Year at the 2022 edition of Independent Awards ceremony.
Wike December 13, 1967, into the Christian family of Nlemanya Wike in Rumueprikom community of Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Wike was educated at the prestigious University of Port Harcourt where he obtained degrees in law, politics, and public administration. He had a short term of private juridical practice before opting to contest for the chairmanship of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Election: AA endorses PDP, Atiku.

Action Alliance (AA) party has endorsed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for the Feb. 25 general elections.
This is contained in a statement signed on Sunday in Abuja by Mr James Vernimbe, the party’s National Secretary.Vernimbe said that the endorsement was made during PDP’s mega rally in Yola, Adamawa state.
According to him, the endorsement was informed and agreed after critical consultation with the party’s hierarchy and state chairmen. AA has joined some other parties to endorse PDP and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the 25 February, 2023, presidential election.

The police in Ogun State has said some individuals are planning to cause breach of public peace in the State by taking undue advantage of the lingering cash and fuel scarcity in the nation.
The Ogun police command said it has intelligence report that those planning the mayhem may attack banks and other public and private infrastructures in the State.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, who commended the residents of the State for their resilience and peaceful conduct in the face of the biting economic challenges, assured residents of the command’s resolve to protect lives and property.
