These Analyses Could Prove That Suarez Is A Better Striker Than Lewandowski

Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski are two of the greatest strikers of this generation. However, the debate of who the better striker is could be a matter of preference due to the fact that the two players are almost evenly matched in terms of their statistics.

However, these statistical analysis below could prove that the Uruguayan international, Luis Suarez is the better striker.

The award is given to the ultimate top-scorer across all football leagues in Europe. Luis Suarez was able to win the award twice in the two biggest leagues in Europe.

He did so with Liverpool in the Premier League, and also with Barcelona in La Liga. Although, Lewandowski has managed to receive the gong twice, he has only done so while playing in the Bundesliga in Germany, which is the fourth best league in Europe.

Top-scorer Awards

Luis Suarez is one of few players in the modern game who can boast to have won top-scorer awards in three different leagues across Europe.

Suarez won the top-scorer award with Ajax Amsterdam while plying his trade in the dutch top-flight division. He won the Premier League golden boot in his time with Liverpool and also the Pichichi trophy as the top-scorer in the Spanish division in 2016 with Barcelona.

Taking nothing away from the achievements of the great Lewandowski, but he has only won top-scorer awards playing in the German top-flight.

National teams

Luis Suarez has scored 68 goals in 132 apps while Lewandowski has 76 goals in equal number of games. Although Lewandowski has eight strikes more than Suarez, the latter has produced the goods when it mattered for his country unlike his counterpart.

Luis Suarez has won the Copa America with Uruguay, while Lewandowski is yet to achieve anything with Poland. Luis Suarez has also been awarded the best player award in an international tournament (precisely the Copa America), while it is not farfetched to say Lewandowski has been underwhelming in major tournaments for his national team.

All-round Attacking Play

In terms of their all-round play, Luis Suarez can be considered the better player due to the facts he is more skillful, more involved in the build up to a goal and also has the superior assist record. Lewandowski certainly has the better goal stats, but he is a poacher who is most deadly for finishing off moves.

The Polish striker relies heavily on his teammates, while Suarez had sometimes proven that he could carry his team by himself, which is evident in his time in the Premier League playing for Liverpool, where he almost singlehandedly lead them to Premier League glory back in 2014.

Does these analysis prove Suarez is a better striker than Lewandowski?
