The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has given the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) a 14-day ultimatum to release the findings of the alleged assault of a journalist in Kasoa.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, GJA President Albert Dwumfour warned that failure by the GNFS to comply would compel the association to take drastic measures, including a possible media blackout.
“The Ghana Journalists Association demands a public release of the investigation findings and sanctions by the Ghana National Fire Service. We are giving the Fire Service a 14-day ultimatum. If they fail to comply, we will take drastic measures against them, including blacklisting. The immediate release of the PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service is non-negotiable,” he remarked.

The GJA further disclosed that it is pursuing both internal disciplinary processes and criminal investigations, with lawyers preparing to take multiple legal actions against the officers involved.
“Our lawyers are busily preparing to take several actions against the perpetrators of this enormous, barbaric attack, which occurred in Kasoa,” he added.
The incident involved a journalist with the Class Media Group, who was reportedly assaulted by GNFS personnel while filming a confrontation between firefighters and traders at the market following a recent fire outbreak in Kasoa.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that the GNFS officers implicated in the attack have been interdicted and that investigations are ongoing.
