Koku Anyidoho Forgives Asiedu Nketiah, Says “I Have Moved On” as 21-Year NDC Era Ends

Samuel Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly forgiven the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, bringing closure to a long-running political feud as a 21-year chapter at the party’s headquarters draws to a close.

In a post on X on Thursday, October 22, Anyidoho reflected on Asiedu Nketiah’s career, recalling his election as General Secretary in 2005 in Koforidua, where he replaced the late Dr. Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh. Asiedu Nketiah went on to become the party’s longest-serving General Secretary before rising to the chairmanship.

Anyidoho, who served as his deputy, explained that their relationship deteriorated after he contested the General Secretary position in 2018. He claimed he ran because Asiedu Nketiah had assured him he would not seek another term. He also alleged that his former boss unilaterally announced his suspension after the contest, a decision Anyidoho insists is invalid, maintaining that he remains a bona fide NDC member.

Despite their differences, Anyidoho said he had chosen to focus on the positive aspects of life rather than dwell on past grievances. He stated that he had no issues working with Asiedu Nketiah as his deputy and was taken aback by the fallout after challenging him. He further alleged that he was deliberately provoked in an attempt to make him resign from the party, but he refused to take the bait.

Anyidoho recounted a chance meeting with Asiedu Nketiah at Kumasi airport about two months ago, where they exchanged greetings, shook hands, joked, and later chatted briefly on the same flight to Accra. He said the encounter reinforced his belief that “there is more that unites us than divides us.

Acknowledging Asiedu Nketiah’s contribution to the NDC and Ghanaian politics, Anyidoho extended his forgiveness, saying: “I forgive you for what you sought to do to just destroy my political career by deliberately provoking me. I have moved on in life and wish you well as you also move on in life. He also alluded to Asiedu Nketiah’s reported ambition to become the party’s presidential candidate.
