Happening Now as MP Babu, Battery Of Lawyers Storm Vihiga Law Court To Represent Sifuna Supporters

Tension has escalated dramatically inside the Vihiga Law Courts as Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has arrived alongside a formidable legal defense team to represent two political activists.

The two accused individuals, identified as Evans Otieno and Abel Onyango faced sudden arrest by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers following a chaotic political alteration that has occurred during a church service in Kisumu.

The duot supposedly stood up to shield Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo from aggressive disruption during the sacred service.

From the onset of the proceedings, the state prosecution team has aggressively pushed to bar journalists and camera crews from covering the trial, citing sensitive security protocols.

However, the defense counsel has swiftly mounted a fierce argument centered on press freedom and public interest.

Babu Owino and his legal team have argued that the public has every right to observe how justice unfolds in a matter that directly touches on constitutional freedoms and state overreach.

Following intense legal arguments from both sides, the presiding judge has ultimately ruled in favor of transparency.

The magistrate has rejected the state’s secrecy application and has granted permission for media houses to stream the proceedings live to the entire nation.

This major decision has already sent shockwaves through political circles, turning a local judicial hearing into a high-stakes national spectacle.

With the preliminary procedural hurdles cleared, the court has officially paused for a brief recess.

The presiding judge has scheduled the core hearing to resume at exactly 11:45 AM, setting the stage for what promises to be a dramatic showdown between state prosecutors and the defense team.
