Sifuna Ally Turns Heads With Stylish Shirt Carrying Punchline to Ruto’s ‘Empty’ Remark at TEP Launch
Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has once again used his choice of clothing to deliver a political message, this time appearing at the launch of Edwin Sifuna’s new political party in a T-shirt carrying the words “EMPTY @40.”
Gisairo, a supporter of Sifuna and a familiar figure at Linda Mwananchi events, wore the branded shirt during the launch of The Equitable Party (TEP), where Sifuna was unveiled as the party’s presidential candidate.
The message on Gisairo’s shirt appeared to reference President William Ruto’s recent description of Sifuna as “Mr Empty,” a phrase that has featured prominently in the growing political exchange between the two leaders.
Rather than address the remarks from the podium, Gisairo appeared to let the T-shirt make the political statement for him.
The Kitutu Masaba lawmaker has previously attracted attention for wearing political T-shirts at opposition gatherings. Some of the messages associated with him include “WAMEKATAA” and “Kwani Tuko Wangapi?”, a slogan linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement.
His latest message was, however, particularly notable because of its timing. It came at an event where Sifuna was formally taking charge of a new political vehicle as he positions himself for the 2027 presidential contest.
Ruto has recently intensified his criticism of Sifuna, including referring to the Nairobi senator as “Mr Empty” during a political exchange over the proposed Dangote refinery project.
Against that backdrop, Gisairo’s “EMPTY @40” shirt appeared to turn the President’s own phrase into a political counter-message.
The unusual fashion statement quickly became one of the talking points surrounding Sifuna’s party launch, reinforcing Gisairo’s growing reputation for using political punchlines on T-shirts to communicate his position without saying a word.
