A total of 9,162 four-week-old chicks have been distributed to 195 people in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality, under the Nkoko Nkete-nkete initiative.
Each of the beneficiaries received 50 broiler chicks, in the initiative, which forms part of a broader efforts by the NDC government to strengthen poultry production and improve livelihoods within the municipality.
Ben Abdullah Alhassan, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), speaking at the ceremony, expressed gratitude for the life and leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, and to the people of Ghana for the mandate entrusted to him.
He said the intervention was intended to benefit all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation and as a result, beneficiaries were selected from diverse communities across the Municipality.
The MCE encouraged beneficiaries to take proper care of the chicks and to adopt innovative and sustainable poultry practices to ensure long-term productivity beyond the initial support.
He also extended a special appreciation to farmers who nurtured the day-old chicks to the four-week stage before distribution.
