The Ghana Football Association has held a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Ghana to explore areas of mutual interest and deepen collaboration between Ghana and Japan through football, business, and innovation.

The meeting took place at the GFA headquarters and was led by GFA President Kurt Okraku, who expressed appreciation to JETRO Ghana for its continued engagement. He also commended the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto, for his commitment and support toward football development in the country.

Discussions centred on expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade facilitation, sports science, education, and strategic business partnerships. Both parties explored how football could serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, investment, and capacity building, to deliver long-term value to the football ecosystem and the broader economy.

President Okraku highlighted the GFA’s longstanding relationship with Japan and the Japanese Football Association, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to strengthening ties in football development, administration, and innovation.

Also present were GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and Head of Business Development Janice Odonkor. JETRO Ghana was represented by Director-General Tsubasa Nakagawa and Manager for Research and Business Development Frank Boadi Acheampong.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both organisations to fostering meaningful collaboration that leverages football as a bridge between sport, business, and education.
