The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a suspect in connection with the possession of suspected counterfeit foreign currency and unauthorised firearm at Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region.
According to a statement released by the Service, the suspect was arrested by the National Operations Directorate Surveillance Unit following intelligence reports.
The suspect, identified as Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado, a self-styled fetish priest, was allegedly involved in criminal activities and possession of a firearm, posing a risk to residents.
A search of the suspect’s room led to the confiscation of quantities of US dollar notes in one-hundred-dollar denominations, a pair of handcuffs, a black vest, a Kuzey A100 blank pistol, and fifty-eight 9mm blank ammunition.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and ongoing investigations aim to establish the source and authenticity of the currency, as well as the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm and other items.
