PAAPAM calls for urgent consultation with PM and sharing of reviewed draft Auto Policy 2026–2031
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has formally approached Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, seeking an urgent meeting to present the industry’s concerns and constructive proposals regarding the draft Auto & Auto Parts Policy 2026–2031. In its communication, PAAPAM acknowledged the Prime Minister’s directive under which a high-level committee is currently conducting a clause-by-clause review of the draft policy. While welcoming the review process, the association emphasized that finalizing the policy without meaningful industry consultation could create serious risks for domestic manufacturing, employment generation, localization and national self-reliance.

PAAPAM has strongly urged that the reviewed draft be shared with industry stakeholders before its submission to the IMF and the cabinet. The association stressed that manufacturers and allied sectors possess valuable technical and practical expertise that can help strengthen the policy framework and ensure that it supports industrial growth and the long-term sustainability of Pakistan’s automotive ecosystem. Highlighting the importance of the matter, PAAPAM leadership has requested an early audience with the Prime Minister to present its concerns and constructive proposals directly, before the committee completes its deliberations and the draft is placed before the cabinet. PAAPAM reiterated its commitment to working closely with the government to ensure that the Auto & Auto Parts Policy 2026–2031 becomes a cornerstone for industrial development, employment creation, localization and technological advancement. The Association expressed confidence that timely consultation and collaborative efforts can help Pakistan achieve sustainable growth and strengthen its automotive industry.
