FO demands immediate, transparent, credible investigation into deaths
Pakistan has summoned India’s chargé d’affaires and lodged a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani citizens in firing by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Bedian Sector along the international border.
The Foreign Office demanded an investigation and action against those responsible.
The Indian chargé d’affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, where Pakistan formally conveyed its strong protest over the deaths of the two Pakistani citizens on October 2.
According to the Foreign Office, the BSF used what it described as unprovoked lethal force against unarmed civilians. Pakistan said the action was wholly unjustified and resulted in the loss of two lives.

Pakistani security sources said the incident occurred near the international border in the Kasur area. They reported that the civilians were unarmed and that two were killed while another was injured in the firing.
The Foreign Office categorically rejected any attempt to characterise the deceased Pakistani citizens as “infiltrators.”
Pakistan maintained that the use of force against unarmed civilians was unjustified and inappropriate, and described the incident as a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life.
However, Indian media and statements attributed to Indian officials described the deceased as suspected Pakistani intruders. Indian accounts said the two men were allegedly attempting to enter Indian territory in the Tarn Taran sector.
Pakistan called on India to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident.
The Foreign Office also demanded appropriate departmental and legal action against personnel found responsible and called on India to formally communicate the findings of the investigation and the action taken to the Pakistan government.
Pakistan conveyed that fundamental human rights and international law must be respected in dealing with such incidents.
The Foreign Office also called on India to strictly adhere to relevant bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, exercise maximum restraint and take effective measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
