Wendy Shay Finally Speaks On Why She Took Lasmid’s Hand Off Her Thighs
Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has finally explained why she removed fellow artiste Lasmid’s hand from her thigh in a viral video that recently sparked widespread discussion on social media.
The brief moment was captured during a shoot involving the two musicians. In the video, Wendy Shay and Lasmid were seated closely together when Lasmid appeared to place his hand on her thigh. Wendy Shay immediately moved his hand away, prompting social media users to speculate about what had happened between the two artistes.
Some social media users interpreted Wendy Shay’s reaction as a sign that she was uncomfortable with the gesture, while others criticised her for allegedly embarrassing Lasmid. The incident subsequently became a subject of memes and various discussions online.
However, Wendy Shay has now provided an explanation, insisting that the moment was misunderstood and blown out of proportion.
Speaking during an interview with media personality DJ Slim, the singer explained that she was simply trying to adjust her position and sit comfortably for the shoot.
According to Wendy Shay, she wanted to move towards the edge of the chair, but Lasmid’s hand was in the way. She therefore moved his hand so she could position herself properly and ensure that the shot looked good.
“Honestly, it’s so unbelievable that none of you could see exactly what happened. I have a rapport with him; that was why I was able to remove his hands. If I didn’t have that rapport, I wouldn’t be able to remove his hands,” Wendy Shay explained.
She further maintained that there was no hostility between herself and Lasmid, describing him as someone she has a close relationship with.
“Everything is blown out of proportion,” she said, explaining that she wanted to sit on the edge of the chair because of her body shape and needed to move his hands to sit properly and make the picture look good. She added, “He is my guy.”
The controversy comes as Wendy Shay and Lasmid continue to promote their musical collaboration, “BendOva”, an Afropop song that has brought the two artistes together for promotional and visual content.
Wendy Shay’s explanation has, however, continued to generate reactions online, with social media users offering different interpretations of the viral moment.
