Wicknell Chivayo’s Secret Network Exposed After His Shock Death: Inside His Links to Ruto

The death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo in a helicopter crash has brought renewed attention to the high profile relationships, business interests and political connections that defined his public life.

Chivayo, who was in his early 40s, died alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke and other passengers after a helicopter crashed in Zimbabwe on September 30, 2026.

Authorities said there were no survivors, while investigations into the cause of the crash were continuing.

Before his death, Chivayo had built a highly visible public image around luxury, business deals and access to influential figures.

His social media accounts frequently featured expensive vehicles, high profile meetings and interactions with political leaders.

His relationship with President William Ruto had attracted particular attention in Kenya.

The two were photographed together on several occasions, including at State House and during private events.

In August, Chivayo shared footage showing Ruto personally driving him and his wife to a helicopter at the President’s residence in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The unusual encounter generated widespread discussion because of the level of personal access it appeared to demonstrate.

Chivayo had also spoken publicly about plans to invest in Kenya, including a proposed US$200 million investment in infrastructure and other projects.

Reports noted however, that such statements represented his stated investment intentions and did not by themselves establish that the entire amount had been committed.

His business career was also marked by controversy and legal battles, while his extravagant lifestyle made him a widely recognised figure in Zimbabwe and beyond.

Following news of his death, Ruto described Chivayo as a dear friend and said he would remember him for his friendship, energy and belief in Africa’s potential.

The circumstances surrounding Chivayo’s death remain under investigation, but his final years have left behind a trail of questions about his business dealings, influential relationships and growing presence in Kenya.
