Chivayo’s Death Mystery Deepens as Unburnt White Shoes Are Found at the Plane Crash Site
Questions have emerged on social media after a pair of white designer shoes was reportedly photographed near the wreckage of the helicopter crash that killed Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and five other people.
The picture has spread widely online, with some users asking whether the shoes belonged to one of the victims. However, authorities have not confirmed who owned the shoes or explained how they came to be found near the wreckage.
The crash happened on Wednesday, September 30, in the Marondera area of Zimbabwe. Chivayo was travelling with his wife, Lucy Muteke, and other people when the helicopter went down at around 5pm.
Zimbabwean police said six people were aboard the aircraft. All six died in the crash. Officials initially said the victims were badly burned and that authorities needed to formally identify the remains.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has since provided an early account of what happened at the crash site. Director General George Mashababe said the helicopter appeared to have suffered a heavy impact, after which fuel spilled and a fire followed.
Investigators have not yet established what caused the helicopter to crash. Forensic experts were deployed to the scene on Thursday as authorities continued examining the wreckage and collecting evidence.
The image of the shoes has therefore attracted attention at a time when details surrounding the tragedy are still being established.
While social media users have raised different questions about the photograph, there is currently no official evidence linking the shoes to Chivayo, his wife or any other person who was aboard the helicopter.
Authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation continues and the identities of all victims are formally confirmed.
For now, the shoes remain an unverified detail from the crash scene rather than evidence of what happened to any particular victim.
