MUST WATCH: Wicknell Chivayo’s Final Moments Captured on Camera Before Fatal Helicopter Crash

A video capturing the final moments of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo before his death in a helicopter crash has emerged online, offering a poignant glimpse into his last day.

Chivayo, 43, and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, were among six people who died when their helicopter crashed in the Marondera Rural area, about 72 kilometres east of Harare, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Authorities confirmed that there were no survivors.

According to reports, Chivayo had spent part of the day at his rural home in Gandami, where he was checking on the construction of a house.

His family later confirmed that he and his wife had been aboard the helicopter when it went down.

Footage circulating online shows Chivayo during his final journey, appearing relaxed as he recorded the flight from inside the helicopter.

In the video, he turns the camera towards the window, capturing another helicopter flying nearby.

The aircraft reportedly crashed at around 5pm near Waddilove Mission in Marondera. It burst into flames, with the crash claiming the lives of all those aboard, including two pilots.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The emergence of the footage has drawn widespread attention because it captures Chivayo during what would become the final moments of his life, before the routine journey ended in tragedy.

Chivayo was one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent businessmen and was widely known for his lavish lifestyle, philanthropy and high-profile political connections.

His death has since prompted tributes from leaders and public figures across the region.
