Econet Wireless Zimbabwe brought joy to 18 of its customers whom it rewarded with homes, cars and solar power systems at a colourful iJoyAftaJoy ceremony held in Adelaide Park, Ruwa, east of Harare last week. The ceremony marked the grand draw and official conclusion of the US$500 000 iJoyAftaJoy Christmas Promotion ran by the telecoms and technology company during the 2025-26 festive season. During the promotion, thousands of customers won prizes ranging from smartphones, fridges and airtime, among many others.Last week, six customers were handed smart homes, four received brand new Nissan Magnite vehicles and eight were awarded solar power systems as the popular promotion came to a close.iJoyAftaJoy, which Econet said was aimed at rewarding customer loyalty, ran from November 2025 to the end of February 2026.For the grand draw winners, the prizes brought a nice mixture of great joy and pleasant surprise.Yurriter Murahwa, who is in her 70s and won a smart home, said she had never dreamt of receiving such a prize.“I never imagined that I would win anything in my life, let alone a smart home. This is truly an amazing gift from Econet. I could not believe it was real. But here we are today, and I have actually won a car. I am very grateful to Econet,” she said.Twenty-six-year-old Florence Prayer Mapuranga from Bulawayo, who won a smart home, said the prize had left her overwhelmed with joy.“I am still trying to take it all in. It is going to make a real difference at home. I am very happy with the prize, and next time I am targeting a house,” he said with laughter.Econet Deputy Chief Executive Officer Roy Chimanikire said the promotion was intended to give customers a tangible return for their continued support.“Our customers are the reason we exist. iJoyAftaJoy was our way of saying thank you for the trust and support they have given us over the years. We wanted that appreciation to go beyond words and translate into something meaningful that customers could take home and use,” he said.Mr Chimanikire said the prizes were selected to have practical value for the winning households.“I believe a home, a car or a solar power system can make a meaningful difference to a family’s everyday life. That is what makes this moment special for us — seeing customers receive rewards that they can use and benefit from for years to come,” he said.He thanked customers who took part in the promotion, saying their continued support was critical for the company’s growth. The promotion is part of Econet’s customer reward initiatives, through which the company is strengthening its relationship and engagement with customers around its products and services.
