Sweden uses millions of tones of waste in its power plants

Sweden has adopted a distinctive method of using waste as fuel to generate electricity while keeping its cities clean.

The country has waste-to-energy power plants where rubbish is burned to produce energy. As Sweden does not produce enough waste to meet the needs of these plants, it imports waste from other countries.

Reports said that Sweden uses millions of tonnes of waste in its power plants each year. Special equipment has been installed at the plants to reduce harmful gases and pollution produced during the burning process.

The electricity generated through the process is used to meet the energy needs of households and other sectors, while the amount of waste is also reduced.
