Man held for demanding money from contractor

LAHORE  –  Akbari Gate police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly demanding Rs30,000 from a contractor and threatening him with serious consequences for refusing to pay.

According to police, the suspect was identified as Mubashir alias Lada Gujjar who allegedly intimidated the contractor and demanded Rs30,000 from him. Soon after receiving information about the incident, the police registered a case and arrested the suspect. The suspect was a known criminal and had previously been involved in serious cases, including attempted murder, robbery and firing, the spokesman said. Deputy Inspector General Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran said bullying and extortion would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said protection of the lives and property of citizens was the foremost responsibility of the police.
