Mzbel reveals why she questioned her pastor and eventually left the church

Singer and entrepreneur Mzbel says she left a church after questioning why the pastor was doing things he had instructed members not to do.

Speaking to media personality Kafui Dey, Mzbel said she had started taking church seriously after becoming a mother and wanted to understand more about her faith.

But she became uncomfortable with some of the pastor’s actions and decided to ask questions.

“It was something that the pastor was doing that didn’t make sense to me. So I asked him, why are you comfortable doing the same things that you tell people not to do?” she said.

Mzbel said the pastor was particularly strict about what members were not supposed to do on Sundays, yet she later saw him engaging in what she described as “weird stuff.”

She also said the pastor allegedly made a pass at her, which raised more questions for her.

“I like so what do you know that we don’t? Why is it comfortable for you to do the same things?” she recalled asking.

According to Mzbel, she sought answers from other people when the pastor failed to give her a satisfactory response.

She said the more questions she asked, the worse the situation appeared, although she insisted that her intention was not to expose or embarrass the pastor.

“I mean if you know something, you should teach us. That’s why we pay our money, tithes to you. I’m giving you tithe. If I don’t pay tithe, you send people after me to pay tithe. So if you are doing something that you say we shouldn’t do, I want to know why,” she said.

Mzbel said the pastor eventually told her to leave the church, and she did.

She later attended another church but continued searching for answers about her beliefs.
