You Stole His Car, Killed Him, And Still Went To Church To Sing – Director Jackson K. Bentum

Renowned Kumawood film producer and director, Jackson K. Bentum, has questioned how some Ghanaians can commit serious crimes and still have the vim to go to church every Sunday.

His comment comes after reports surrounding the death of popular Kwame Nkrumah Circle phone dealer, Nana Yaw Kyere, widely known as Terry or Dinero.

Nana Yaw Kyere was reported missing after travelling to Teshie and was later found dead on September 24, 2026. Police have arrested suspects including one man identified as Philip Tefe, alias Phil, who has been linked to the case.

What shocked many is the claim circulating online that the main suspect, who is described as a regular church member, allegedly drove the deceased’s car to church and worshipped as if nothing happened.

Reacting to the news in a Facebook post on Friday, September 25, 2026, Jackson K. Bentum said he was confused.

“After watching the news about the Accra phone dealer who was allegedly killed by his former girlfriend and a church singer, I became very confused about religion.”

“According to reports and eyewitness accounts, the man was allegedly killed on Saturday, and his stolen car was even brought into the church. Yet, from what has been reported, they were able to go to church without anyone apparently realizing what had happened.”

The director said he still does not understand how people can do such things and still stand among believers:

“Honestly, I still don’t understand religion sometimes. How can people commit serious sins or crimes and at the same time go to church, sing, pray and stand among other believers without showing any sign of what they have done?”

He said people may insult him for saying this but he does not care, because he is genuinely confused.

Jackson K. Bentum clarified that he is not attacking the church or all religious people, but his post has sparked serious conversation on social media about morality, conscience and whether people truly practice what they preach in church.
