CTD thwarts terror plot in Sahiwal

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has foiled a major terror bid in Sahiwal and arrested a terrorist affiliated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an operation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to details, after receiving credible information, the CTD conducted an operation near 19 SP Chowk in Sahiwal. 

The arrested terrorist was later identified as Abdul Rahim, who is a resident of University Road, Peshawar.

CTD officials recovered more than two kilograms of explosive material, 3 IED devices, prima cards, and fuse circuits from his custody.

Later, the Bomb Disposal Squad defused the explosive material. CTD officials said that the terrorist was planning to target innocent people through terrorist attacks in Sahiwal.

Earlier, on September 20, 29026, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a suspected agent of the hostile Indian intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), in an intelligence-based operation near New Ghala Mandi, Pakpattan city.

According to CTD sources, a mobile team led by Under Officer Fida Hussain got a tip-off about the presence of a suspect near New Ghala Mandi.

Acting on the information, the team conducted a raid on the identified location and apprehended the suspect, identified as Wajid Ali, a resident of Bajur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The CTD officials say the suspect was planning terrorist activities, targeting sensitive and security installations in and around Pakpattan.

During the operation, they say, the CTD recovered a shoulder bag containing 1,825 grams of explosive material.
