TENSIONS boiled over in Harare’s First Street yesterday as municipal police and defiant street vendors engaged in intense running battles, leaving parts of the capital’s central business district temporarily gridlocked. The violent confrontations, witnessed by the Daily News On Sunday, erupted as enforcement teams swooped on illegal traders occupying pavements and undesignated trading spaces.
