I Told My Wife Let’s Allow This Boy To Continue Working In NNPC And Trouble Broke Out At Home-Umahi

Minister of Works Senator David Umahi has revealed that he never wanted a local government chairmanship position for his son, Osborn Umeze Umahi, in Ebonyi State and that it was the state governor who made that call.

Speaking in a media coverage by TVC, Umahi said, "I never nominated my son to be local government chairman. It is the governor that nominated him. When that happened, I told my wife, 'Let's allow this boy to continue working in NNPC,' and trouble broke out at home. She said, 'You've been governor, the son of another mother and you don't want my son to be local government chairman,” Umahi said.

He alleged that he stood little chance against the combined pressure of his wife and the governor, and that the appointment eventually went ahead.

He however pushed back against the narrative that he engineered his son's emergence, saying the governor is alive and can confirm that the nomination was his decision alone.
