Nigerian gospel singer, Asu Ekiye, popularly known as the “Prince of the Niger Delta,” has announced the end of his 28-year marriage to his wife, Kunemofa Asu.
Ekiye disclosed that the marriage ended a year ago, explaining that he deliberately delayed the public announcement to allow both parties time for reflection, clarity and quiet acceptance.
The gospel artist, in a post announcing the separation on his Facebook page on Thursday, described the marriage as a deeply personal journey marked by growth, experiences and reflection.
Ekiye, however, did not disclose the circumstances that led to the separation, maintaining that the decision was a deeply personal matter.
According to him, “I wish to announce, with a profound sense of sobriety and quiet resignation, that my marriage to KUNEMOFA ASU has come to an end, while looking ahead to the possibilities of a new season.
“This marriage ended a year ago. I have deliberately chosen to make this announcement only now, after allowing time to bring the perspective, clarity and quiet acceptance that such a deeply personal transition deserves.”
“Some chapters, however significant and memorable, eventually come to an end. I choose to close this chapter with grace, gratitude and dignity, while looking ahead to the possibilities of a new season. For the avoidance of doubt, this marriage ended a year ago. I have deliberately chosen to make this announcement only now, after allowing time to bring the perspective, clarity and quiet acceptance that such a deeply personal transition deserves.”
