Boko Haram has carried out brutal attacks on communities in Adamawa State, causing sustained mass murders of people in the past year; hundreds have been rendered homeless, many killed, and it has been a serious bloodbath.

Recently, members of the dreaded sect Boko Haram launched a deadly raid on Gaya-Dlang community near Fa’agaya in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The bloody incident took place yesterday evening, killing 8 people and abducting four girls.

The attack occurred around 5:00 pm, with the assailants also burning houses and carting away foodstuffs from residents, according to local reports in Hong Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, the Executive Chairman of Hong LGA, Hon. Dr. Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, said the casualties included seven civilians and one police officer we’re taken and deposited at the Hong Federal Medical Centre, Hong.

The Chairman, who spoke to newsmen, said the situation has been deplorable.

“We have eight casualties among seven civilians and one police officer,” Dr. Aliyu Saad told reporters, adding that some inhabitants sustained minor injuries while fleeing for safety during the attack.

The body of the slain police officer has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Hong, the council chairman disclosed.
Dr. Aliyu Hong also confirmed that the four girls abducted during the raid have escaped and returned home. “This morning all of them are back. The four ladies, all of them are back,” he said.

He noted that the presence of military personnel has helped restore calm to the area, but fear remains high among residents of Gaya and Yadul districts because these insurgents can return at any moment to wreak havoc on the people.

The chairman lamented that the repeated attacks have forced farmers to abandon their farms at the peak of the rainy season, warning of serious consequences for food security.

“There is serious fear because 80% of our peasant farmers who are farming in that area have abandoned their farms,” Dr. Aliyu Hong said, explaining further that even councillors and people from Mubi and Gombe who usually farm there can no longer access their lands.

“Most of our farms are in that area, but now, no farming activities are going on there. So it will seriously affect the food security of our people,” he added.
The council chairman said the local government will continue to support the military and other security agencies like hunters and vigilantes to secure communities across Hong LGA, and commended the Government for its efforts in tackling insecurity in the state but called for more sustained efforts.

Dr. Hong also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies, stressing that the attack marks the second major incident in Hong this month after a similar raid in Zah community on July 27, 2026, which left four people dead and one woman abducted.
