Mövenpick at 15: Employee empowerment key to hospitality growth – GM

General Manager of Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, Isaac Adjei, has called on stakeholders in Ghana’s hospitality industry to prioritise employee empowerment and create enabling working environments to improve service delivery.

He said the success of the hospitality industry depends largely on the people who deliver services, making it important for employers to invest in their teams and build their confidence.

Speaking at a press soiree on Friday August 14, 2026 to mark the hotel’s 15th anniversary, Mr Adjei described hospitality as a “work of art”, saying employees must genuinely enjoy what they do to deliver quality service.
“People serve from their heart. It’s not a regimented industry like you would have in the banking sector or the finance sector. People must love what they do,” he said.

He urged hospitality businesses to create fun and supportive environments for their employees, arguing that empowering workers would help them perform their roles with greater confidence.

“Ghanaians generally are hospitable. What is needed now is to build their confidence,” he said.

According to him, stakeholders in the industry have a responsibility to encourage and empower their teams rather than focusing solely on the operational side of their businesses.

He believes a more motivated and confident workforce could help improve Ghana’s hospitality experience while also strengthening the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

“Empower your teams, encourage them, build their confidence. And hospitality will be fun and also a very good means of getting revenue for the state,” Mr Adjei added.

His comments come as Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra marks 15 years of operations, with the hotel also pledging to deepen its engagement with the community and introduce innovative activities as part of its anniversary celebrations.
