By Samuel Ofori Boateng, GNA

Bekwai (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA – Ghanaians have been urged to embrace the culture of giving and contribute significantly to developmental initiatives in their communities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSO) Mr Bright Acheampong, the Staff Officer at the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, who made the call, said while the government had a significant responsibility to provide essential infrastructure and drive national development, the magnitude of the country’s developmental needs made it necessary for individuals, institutions and other stakeholders to complement government efforts.

Speaking to some media practitioners, who paid a visit to his office at Bekwai, he said national development was a shared responsibility and encouraged individuals and organisations to use part of their resources, skills, influence and platforms to support projects that served the public good.

The visit was to acknowledge his developmental contributions and initiatives within the Ghana Police Service.

He said meaningful development could be achieved when citizens took an active interest in improving their communities rather than leaving the responsibility entirely to the Government.

Highlighting some of his contributions, DSP Acheampong said he had supported the provision and improvement of infrastructure at the Patase Police Depot in Kumasi.

He mentioned the construction of a classroom block at the depot, named after former Inspector-General of Police, ACP Dr George Akuffo Dampare, as one of the initiatives undertaken.

He also cited the construction of the main entrance and exit gates and a Police Learning Centre as part of the infrastructure projects.

DSP Acheampong further disclosed that he had provided chairs and a poly tank for the Patase Police Depot to improve the facility and support the welfare of personnel.

He said, together with the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, he had initiated and facilitated the construction of a tailoring shop at the Amangoase Police Station.

The facility, he explained, was intended to provide tailoring services for police personnel from at least six district commands.

He further mentioned the construction of a conference room for the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, describing the initiative as part of efforts to improve the working environment and operational facilities of the Service.

DSP Acheampong urged Ghanaians to identify genuine developmental needs within their communities and contribute according to their capacity.

He said individual contributions, regardless of their size, could collectively produce significant and lasting results when directed towards worthwhile causes.

He encouraged corporate organisations, philanthropists, institutions and individuals to support initiatives that promoted education, community development, public service, and the general wellbeing of society.

DSP Acheampong said a culture of giving would not only address some immediate developmental needs but also leave a positive legacy for future generations.

He further encouraged the media to continue highlighting development-oriented initiatives and using their platforms to inspire citizens to contribute meaningfully to national and community development.

He said acts of generosity and service to humanity could transform communities and create opportunities for people to lead better and more productive lives.
