India dominated South Africa with a lead of 1-0 in their second Pool D match at the FIH Women’s World Cup 2026.

India made a strong start in their Pool D match against South Africa. The Indian team kept the battle thrilling against South Africa from the very beginning. And efforts paid off in the first quarter. Sunelita scored a goal for India. The goal gave India a lead of 1-0. With the first quarter over, India will now look to keep the same energy and control the game in the second quarter. The Indian team will hope to add more goals while keeping South Africa away from their goal.

Pool D Table and India’s Position

After drawing with China (2-2) in the first match, India began this one at one point up. After losing to England for the first time in their history, the South African team hasn’t scored a single point. China and England are also part of Pool D. The Top two teams of group will compete in the next round. That’s why this match against South Africa is crucial for India. India would be in a much stronger situation to be in the top two teams if it wins its bid at South Africa.
