Briefly News has partnered with Cars.co.za, South Africa’s most visited online car marketplace, to present the fifth instalment of its Women of Wonder campaign this Women’s Month.
The campaign, themed “Steering the Story: Mzansi’s Women in Motoring 2026,” celebrates the women reshaping South Africa’s motoring industry, from the boardroom to the racetrack, in commemoration of South Africa’s observance of Women’s Month every August.
Now in its fifth year, Women of Wonder has spotlighted women in leadership and entrepreneurship in 2022, women in construction in 2023, and single mothers running families and businesses in 2024, before turning to domestic workers in 2025’s The Real Housekeepers of Mzansi.

For 2026, the series turns its lens on the motoring industry, where women remain underrepresented in senior leadership, technical, and competitive roles, both in South Africa and globally.
The partnership pairs Briefly News’ storytelling reach with Cars.co.za’s standing as one of South Africa’s biggest car marketplaces and motoring media brands, giving the featured women’s stories a platform across both brands’ audiences.
Twelve Women, One Industry Overdue for Change
The 2026 line-up features 12 women working across engineering, motorsport, mechanics, marketing and content creation. They include Kwanele Dlava, a qualified mechanic in East London whose workshop videos have drawn over 190,000 likes on TikTok, and Emma-Rose Dowling, who at 15 became the first South African girl selected for the F1 Academy Discover Your Drive Programme.
Also featured are drag racer Karen Naidoo, who holds the record for the fastest stock turbo Nissan GT-R in Africa, and 17-year-old Chloe Stuart, the first woman in 50 years to win the Formula Vee Rookie Championship. Briefly News interviewed each woman individually, tracing the barriers she has broken and the road still ahead.

Campaign Runs Until the End of August
Women of Wonder 2026 rolls out story by story on the campaign’s landing page for the rest of August, alongside coverage on Briefly News’ website and social media channels. Readers can follow the full series here, including Emma-Rose Dowling’s F1 Academy feature, and revisit Briefly News’ wider archive of women’s empowerment stories.
Maryn Blignaut, Editor-in-Chief at Briefly News, says:
“Women of Wonder exists because these stories don’t get told with the depth they deserve. Partnering with Cars.co.za this year means we can put these women in front of an audience that lives and breathes motoring and show them an industry that already belongs to the women showing up and doing the work.
