MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL) has opened applications for the MoMo Fintech Lab, a nationwide innovation programme aimed at identifying, developing and accelerating Ghana’s next generation of fintech innovators.
The programme, launched on August 12 at the Accra Marriott Hotel, is being implemented in partnership with the Bank of Ghana and other key players in the fintech ecosystem.
It is open to students, developers, entrepreneurs, startups and innovators across the country with ideas capable of addressing everyday challenges, expanding financial access and strengthening Ghana’s digital financial services ecosystem.
Build with MoMo
Under the theme, “Build with MoMo”, and the tagline “Build the Next Wave of Fintech,” the initiative will connect participants with regulators, financial institutions, fintech companies, technology partners, academia, investors and innovation hubs to help transform promising ideas into practical, scalable and commercially viable solutions.
The programme is structured around four innovation tracks: Everyday Payments and Financial Access; Business and Merchant Growth Tools; Trust, Security and Digital Identity; and Future Finance and Connected Ecosystems.
Innovators
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Fintech LTD, Shaibu Haruna, said the initiative was designed to strengthen Ghana’s fintech talent pipeline and provide innovators with an opportunity to develop solutions with real-world relevance.
The Head of the FinTech and Innovation Office at the Bank of Ghana, Owureku Asare, stressed the importance of collaboration, responsible innovation and regulatory partnership in building a trusted and inclusive digital financial ecosystem.
The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, challenged Ghanaian innovators to leverage the platform to develop homegrown fintech solutions capable of competing across Africa and the global digital economy.
He said Ghana possessed the talent, ideas and creativity needed to shape its own digital future and should reduce its dependence on technologies developed elsewhere.

The 12 finalists selected for the Fintech Lab will receive a comprehensive prize and support package, including cash awards of up to GH¢100,000, digital devices, a bootcamp, hackathon, mentorship, incubation support and industry exposure.
