Terra Industries Raises Funding to Expand Autonomous Security Systems Across Global South

Terra is developing what it describes as sovereign security capabilities through a vertically integrated technology platform tailored to the terrain and operational requirements of the Global South.

Terra Industries,  an African autonomous security technology company, has raised new funding from existing and new investors to expand its manufacturing operations, international presence and deployments across the Global South.

Existing investors 8VC, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, Belief Capital and SV Angel participated in the funding round, alongside new investor Norleo Space Investments and angel investor Grant Gordon.

Terra will use the funding to establish its first international office in London, increase manufacturing capacity, accelerate deployments across the Global South and expand its engineering, operations and business development teams.

Founded in 2024 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka, Terra Industries develops autonomous defence systems designed to help governments and infrastructure operators monitor and secure critical assets and respond to threats across land, air and maritime environments. Its technology is already deployed at power plants, mines and other nationally critical assets valued at approximately $11 billion across several African countries.

“Critical infrastructure across the Global South is best protected by systems designed for these environments and built in the regions they protect. This funding lets us scale that work and deepen our manufacturing base. It also puts us in the rooms where global defense decisions are made.”

— Nathan Nwachuku, Co-founder and CEO, Terra Industries

Terra’s London office is expected to provide access to institutions involved in global defence and infrastructure markets, as well as international operations and AI talent. The company said manufacturing will remain in Africa, with plans to expand its footprint across the Gulf, South America and South Asia.

The company is also preparing to open its Pax-2 manufacturing facility in Ghana in the fourth quarter of 2026. The facility will follow Terra’s 15,000-square-foot Pax-1 factory in Abuja, Nigeria. With 34,000 square feet of space, Pax-2 is expected to become the largest drone manufacturing facility in Africa once fully operational.

The Ghana facility is projected to reach an annual production capacity of 50,000 units across Terra’s aerial systems portfolio by 2028.

Terra said its technology is designed to address security challenges affecting infrastructure and communities across Africa and other parts of the Global South, including infrastructure sabotage, illegal mining, organised crime and terrorism.

The company argues that many governments and infrastructure operators continue to rely on imported security systems that may be expensive to maintain and unsuitable for local operating environments, while also creating supply-chain and geopolitical risks and limiting control over software and data.

Terra is developing what it describes as sovereign security capabilities through a vertically integrated technology platform tailored to the terrain and operational requirements of the Global South. Its portfolio includes long- and mid-range autonomous drones, interceptor drones, sentry towers and unmanned ground vehicles.

These systems are connected through ArtemisOS, Terra’s proprietary software platform, which supports real-time threat detection, autonomous mission planning and coordinated responses across large and challenging environments.
