The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced visa waiver arrangements between Ghana and Maldives, Zambia, Antigua and Barbuda, following ratification by Parliament and the entry into force of the respective agreements.
In a public announcement dated September 8, 2026, the Ministry said eligible Ghanaian passport holders may travel to these countries without obtaining an entry visa, subject to the terms and conditions of the respective agreements.
The visa waiver arrangements apply to holders of Ordinary, Service, and Diplomatic Passports.
For the Republic of Maldives and the Republic of Zambia, the maximum duration of stay is 30 days. For Antigua and Barbuda, the maximum duration is 90 days.
Travellers have been advised that visa-free entry does not exempt them from complying with the immigration and entry requirements of the destination country. Ghanaian passport holders are required to travel with a valid passport and any other documents required by the relevant authorities and must not exceed the stipulated period of stay.
Travellers intending to undertake employment, study, residence, or any other activity for which a permit or specific authorisation is required must obtain the appropriate approval from the relevant authorities.
The Ministry further encouraged travellers to confirm, prior to travel, the current entry, health, and other applicable requirements with the relevant authorities or the nearest Embassy or High Commission of the destination country, as such requirements may be subject to change.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the movement of Ghanaian citizens and strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relations with partner countries.
