Adamus Resources rejects revocation of mining leases

Adamus Resources Limited has rejected the revocation of its mining leases by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, describing the decision as unlawful and contrary to procedures established under Ghana’s mining laws.

The company says it received the Minister’s decision with shock and disappointment, insisting that the process leading to the withdrawal of its mineral rights did not comply with the statutory requirements of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).

In a statement signed by its Group Human Resource and Administration Manager, Alex Obu-Simpson, Adamus Resources accused the Minister of attempting to strip the company of its mineral rights without regard for the legal procedures governing the revocation of mining leases.

The company has also rejected all allegations levelled against it, describing them as “unfounded, contrived and deliberately manufactured.”

According to Adamus Resources, the allegations are being used to strongarm the company and deprive it of its mining leases.

The company further accused the Minister of abusing his powers and alleged that the revocation was carried out with an “absolute disregard of law.”

Adamus Resources said it had taken note of what it considers an abuse of power and a failure to follow due process in the decision to revoke its leases.

The company has consequently signalled its intention to challenge the decision, saying it will take what it describes as “cogent steps” to overturn the revocation.

It said the people of Ghana would be informed in the coming days about the action it intends to take to challenge what it described as a “baseless revocation.”

The statement was signed by Alex Obu-Simpson, Group Human Resource and Administration Manager, Adamus Resources Limited.

The development could set the stage for a legal challenge over the revocation of Adamus Resources’ mining leases and the procedures followed by the authorities in reaching the decision.
