Kenyan socialite and beauty entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has made headlines again, this time with a blunt statement about her love life: she would rather grow old alone than walk down the aisle with a Kenyan man.

The outspoken personality shared her sentiments publicly, directing sharp criticism at what she described as poor manners and a lack of basic respect among some Kenyan men, particularly when it comes to approaching women they barely know.

Huddah explained that her time in other environments had set a high bar for how she expects to be treated.
“You know, I’m used to being in environments where men actually ask for permission to speak to you. Excuse me, ma’am, permission to speak freely,” she said.
Her frustration goes beyond formal greetings. She pointed out that she cannot be expected to recognise people she has not crossed paths with in years.
“If I don’t live with you, I haven’t seen you in ten years, twenty years, I do not remember you,” she said.
What really gets under her skin, she explained, is when men who manage to hold a civil conversation eventually cross a line.
“And even if you’re nice and engage in a conversation with them, they will still end up disrespecting you. They will say something that is just disgusting,” she claimed.
Her message to any man thinking of approaching her in public was clear and direct:
“So please, msinisalime. Mkiniona mahali, wache ikae,” meaning men should not greet her and should simply leave her alone.

Huddah went beyond Kenyan men, touching on her broader experiences with relationships across different nationalities.
She described dating Black men as “too much hard work,” comparing the experience to “going in a maze” that can make a woman “go mental.”
She linked some of this behaviour to how African men are raised, and urged African mothers with sons to “do better for the next generation.”
Huddah also took aim at men who are drawn to independent women but later attempt to reshape.
Her explanation was simple: if a man wants a traditional housewife, he should find a woman who already fits that mould rather than trying to change someone who was never that person to begin with.
On the subject of marriage itself, Huddah has long been vocal about her scepticism.
She believes women should never stay in a marriage purely because of societal pressure or appearances, and she has been consistent in saying she will not pursue marriage simply for the sake of it.
