“You are a Complete Idiot” Alai Blasts Former Mt Kenya MP Over Claims His Posts Are Being Suppressed
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has reacted sharply to former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando after he complained that his social media platforms were allegedly being suppressed.
The outspoken politician did not hold back in his response, questioning whether Kabando understood what shadow-banning meant.
His remarks have added another twist to the growing online discussion surrounding Kabando’s criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.
In a post shared on X, Alai directly addressed Kabando’s claims that his posts had been restricted for three years.
Kabando had alleged that his content was rarely appearing even among his Facebook followers and that his X account had stalled.
He suggested that the situation was connected to his criticism of the government, although his post did not provide independent evidence proving that the administration was responsible.
Alai responded with harsh words, writing, “Complete idiot do you even understand what shadow banning is?”
His statement appeared to challenge Kabando’s understanding of the term and the reasons he believed his posts were not reaching his audience.
The response was blunt, quickly drawing attention to the disagreement between the two public figures.
Shadow-banning generally refers to a situation where a user’s content becomes less visible to other people without an obvious notification that the account has been restricted.
However, reduced engagement does not automatically prove that shadow-banning has occurred.
Social media algorithms, account settings, audience activity and other platform-related factors can affect how widely posts are seen.
Alai’s post questioned Kabando’s understanding of the issue but did not establish what had happened to his accounts.
The exchange has added to the debate about political expression and social media visibility in Kenya.
While Kabando believes his posts are being suppressed, Alai has challenged his understanding of the situation in unusually strong language.
The disagreement leaves questions about the cause of Kabando’s reported online difficulties unanswered, while showing how quickly political discussions can turn into personal exchanges on social media.
