Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has agreed to chair the public presentation of a three-volume book, Unexplained Wealth in Nigeria, authored by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr Wahab Kunle Shittu.

The presentation is scheduled to hold in Lagos on September 28, 2026, according to a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday.

Obasanjo conveyed his acceptance in an acknowledgement letter dated August 26, 2026, addressed to Shittu in response to the invitation to chair the event.

The former President commended Shittu for undertaking what he described as a “monumental and highly relevant scholarly work”, particularly its examination of unexplained wealth and its implications for transparency, the rule of law and institutional reform.

“I must commend you for undertaking such a monumental and highly relevant scholarly work.

“Documenting the complexities surrounding unexplained wealth in Nigeria in a three-volume trilogy is a reflection of your profound commitment to transparency, the rule of law, and institutional reform.

“Literature of this depth is critical if we are to successfully diagnose and address the systemic socio-economic and anti-corruption challenges confronting our nation,” Obasanjo said.

He also expressed his willingness to participate in discussions on the issues raised in the publication alongside other stakeholders.

“It gives me great pleasure to accept your invitation to serve as the Chairman of this momentous occasion and to join you and other distinguished stakeholders in discussing the vital themes highlighted in your book,” the statement added.

Obasanjo congratulated Shittu on the completion of the three-volume work and expressed his hope that the presentation would generate meaningful discussions on transparency, institutional accountability, the rule of law and Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework.

The publication is structured as a three-volume work examining unexplained wealth and its institutional and socio-economic dimensions in Nigeria.
