The interior features cream-coloured couches arranged around a mahogany coffee table, with matching cream tiles and walls giving the space a warm, cohesive feel.
It is the kind of home that speaks quietly of comfort and good taste.
How did Kenyans get a glimpse of Oburu’s residence?
The glimpse into his home comes at a sensitive moment. Oburu was admitted to a Nairobi hospital over the weekend, August 29 to 30, and his hospitalisation set off a wave of speculation online about the state of his health.

He was discharged on Monday, August, and moved quickly to set the record straight.
Speaking on September 1, the veteran politician dismissed reports that he had been critically ill, saying he had simply gone in for a routine checkup with his doctors.
He added that falling ill is a perfectly ordinary human experience and urged the public not to read too much into his hospital visit.
Since returning home, Oburu has been resting at the Kitisuru property, where he has reportedly received visits from close friends, senior party officials and Cabinet Secretaries.
While his Kitisuru home serves as his personal sanctuary, Oburu’s political machinery runs out of a separate base along Riverside Drive.
His office, situated at Riverside West End Estate along Sri Aurobindo Road, was established in March 2026 and houses a full political secretariat that handles party communication, networking, strategy and stakeholder engagements.
The setup was partly inspired by the late Raila Odinga’s former Capitol Hill office, a nod to the deep ties between the two brothers.

Oburu stepped up to lead ODM after Raila’s death in October 2025, a transition that placed him under considerably more public scrutiny than he had previously faced. His health, in particular, has become a subject of heightened interest.
This is not the first time his wellbeing has made headlines. In 2022, he underwent hip and knee surgery and later took a medical sabbatical in Dubai.
His doctors had reportedly advised him to pace himself and step back from the more physically demanding aspects of political life from time to time.
For now, surrounded by the comforts of his well-appointed Kitisuru home, Oburu appears to be taking that advice.
