The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to develop a critical mass of skilled ICT trainers who can transfer practical digital and networking skills to citizens across Ghana under the One Million Coders Programme.
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), through the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP), has commenced a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme focused on Datacom and Access Network Technologies.
The training began on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) and will run through September 4.
The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to develop a critical mass of skilled ICT trainers who can transfer practical digital and networking skills to citizens across Ghana under the One Million Coders Programme.
Certified technical experts from Huawei Technologies are delivering the training, which combines expert-led lectures, hands-on practical sessions and competency assessments.
Participants are receiving intensive instruction in Datacom and Access Network Technologies, with sessions scheduled daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Following the training, participants who successfully complete the programme are expected to serve as certified OMCP trainers and train at least 20 members of the public, allowing the knowledge acquired to reach a wider pool of citizens.
The government expects the initiative to strengthen Ghana’s digital skills ecosystem and equip more citizens with the technological competencies needed to participate in the country’s evolving digital economy.
The One Million Coders Programme remains a key national initiative aimed at developing Ghana’s digital workforce and preparing citizens to take advantage of opportunities emerging across the technology sector.
