Marvin Senaya

Ghana defender Marvin Senaya is making steady progress in his recovery after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury suffered at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old Auxerre right-back was recently seen working in the gym as he continues rehabilitation on his right leg, raising hopes of a return to action in the coming months.

Senaya picked up the injury during Ghana’s Round of 32 clash against Colombia on July 3 at the Kansas City Stadium.

The setback ended his World Cup campaign after he had featured in all four of the Black Stars’ matches at the tournament.

Following the injury, the France-based defender travelled to Paris, where he underwent successful surgery on his hamstring.

He has since returned to Auxerre and resumed his rehabilitation programme as he works towards regaining full fitness.

Senaya’s eventual return would be a welcome boost for both Auxerre and the Black Stars.

Ghana are scheduled to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in September, making his recovery particularly important for the national team.
