The Lagos State Chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) has paid a condolence visit to the family of late veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing his death as a monumental loss to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and cultural heritage.
The delegation, led by the State Ambassador of RHA Lagos and the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, visited the bereaved family to express condolences and honour the late actor’s decades-long contribution to Nigerian cinema and indigenous storytelling.
Ayinde, who led other officials of the organisation to the family yesterday, said Ogogo’s impact went far beyond his performances on screen, describing him as a cultural ambassador whose talent and dedication brought joy and inspiration to millions of Nigerians.
He said the late actor played a significant role in the growth of the Nigerian creative industry and the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage through his career spanning several decades.
“The late Taiwo Hassan, fondly known as Ogogo, was more than an actor; he was a cultural ambassador and a towering figure whose exceptional talent brought joy, inspiration and pride to millions of Nigerians,” Ayinde said.
The RHA leader noted that Ogogo’s exceptional career earned him widespread admiration and established him as one of the most recognisable and respected personalities in the Nigerian film industry, particularly Yoruba Nollywood.
According to him, the actor’s legacy would continue to inspire practitioners and younger generations in the creative sector.
Ayinde further described Ogogo as a role model whose professionalism, dedication and passion contributed significantly to the evolution and growing international recognition of Nigerian cinema.
The delegation was received by the late actor’s widow and other members of the Hassan family during the visit.
Members of the organisation expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
They also prayed to God to grant his widow, children and other family members the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
The RHA delegation said the visit was not only to commiserate with the family but also to recognise the enduring contributions of the late actor to Nigeria’s arts, culture and creative economy.
Ogogo, one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood, was widely celebrated for his memorable roles and contribution to indigenous storytelling.
Through his acting career, he became a household name and an influential figure in an industry that has helped project Nigerian culture and stories to audiences beyond the country.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors said his contributions to the creative industry would remain part of his enduring legacy, adding that his life and career demonstrated the power of talent, commitment and cultural identity.
The organisation urged the bereaved family to take solace in the impact the late actor made during his lifetime and the memories he left behind among colleagues, fans and admirers across Nigeria and beyond.
