President John Dramani Mahama has opened the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu in the Northern Region, marking another step in the government’s efforts to drive industrialisation, create jobs and expand economic opportunities under the 24-Hour Economy initiative.

The modern manufacturing facility is expected to contribute to the growth of Ghana’s textile and apparel industry by increasing local production and creating employment opportunities, particularly for people in the Northern Region.

The establishment of the hub forms part of the government’s broader agenda to promote local manufacturing and support businesses that can contribute to economic growth and job creation.

The facility is also expected to strengthen Ghana’s capacity in textile and apparel production while creating opportunities for value addition and expanding the country’s industrial base.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft; Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export-Import Bank, Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah.

A key feature of the Northshore Apparel Hub is its focus on sustainable and zero-waste production practices.

The approach is expected to help minimise waste generated through the manufacturing process while promoting environmentally responsible industrial production.

The facility therefore aligns economic development with sustainability, supporting the government’s broader objective of building a productive industrial sector that creates jobs while protecting the environment.

The commissioning of the Northshore Apparel Hub adds to efforts to position the Northern Region as an important centre for manufacturing and economic activity under the 24-Hour Economy initiative.
