The Ministry of Health (MoH) has opened applications for qualified Ghanaian doctors, nurses and midwives to take up employment opportunities in Jamaica under a bilateral arrangement between the two countries.

The recruitment exercise, which began on June 1, 2026, will end on June 5, 2026.

A notice issued by the Ministry said the programme offers healthcare professionals the opportunity to work in Jamaica.

The Ministry stated that specialist nurses being sought include those in neonatology, oncology, critical care, nephrology, emergency nursing and peri-operative nursing.

Registered nurses and registered midwives are also eligible to apply.

At the physician level, applications are open to fellowship-level specialists in general surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesiology, pathology, nephrology and cardiology.

Requirements

According to the Ministry, applicants must satisfy the regulatory requirements of the Medical and Dental Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Applicants must also have a minimum of two years of post-basic working experience.

The Ministry said applicants would be required to submit the original copies and two certified photocopies of their academic certificates, certificates of good standing from the relevant professional regulatory bodies, current and previous appointment letters, and a criminal record certificate issued by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service covering the previous six months.

Other documents required include an immunisation certificate, birth certificate, certificate of change of name where applicable, two copies of a current curriculum vitae, two reference letters issued within the previous six months, a passport-size photograph with a white background and a valid passport with at least two years of remaining validity.

Applicants are also required to complete the prescribed application form.

Interview

The Ministry stated that all certified copies of academic qualifications and professional registration documents must be presented in person on the day of the interview.

It added that unsuitable applications would not be acknowledged.

Application process

The Ministry directed all interested applicants to submit their applications through its recruitment portal before the June 5, 2026 deadline.

The notice urged prospective applicants to complete the process within the stipulated period.
