Jerryne Asante is the Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu Jerryne Asante is the Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu

Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu, Jerryne Asante, has made it clear that alleged sabotage and attacks directed at her will not force her removal from office by President John Dramani Mahama.

Her remarks come after a recent violent incident at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, which she claims was triggered by her decision to stop what she describes as an illegal attempt to sell state-owned land.

According to her, some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ejisu were involved in the alleged transaction.

Speaking on Nhyira FM on April 30, Jerryne Asante defended her actions, stating that she acted within her mandate to protect government assets.

She specifically mentioned that the alleged takeover involved party figures, including Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser Gloria Huze.

“As MCE, it is my duty to ensure that all state properties under my jurisdiction are protected, as mandated,” she said.

She stressed that she will not tolerate any individual or group attempting to unlawfully take control of public property, regardless of their political ties.

Describing the incident as a deliberate act of sabotage, Asante suggested it was aimed at putting pressure on the Presidency to dismiss her.

Maintaining her stance, she insisted that her actions align with the government’s broader “Resetting Agenda,” and therefore, she does not expect to be removed from her position.

“I am acting in line with the government’s agenda. I will not be sacked over this,” she stated.

The MCE also issued a warning to some NDC executives in Ejisu, cautioning that such actions could tarnish the party’s image and create unnecessary embarrassment for the government.

She noted that justifying such conduct by referencing alleged actions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the past is misguided.

“Some Ejisu NDC executives justify their actions by claiming NPP executives also took over state land and warehouses when they were in power. But this is what the NPP did and it led them into opposition. We must not repeat it,” she said.

Addressing reports about her health, the MCE dismissed suggestions linking her hospital admission to the incident.

While confirming that she is currently receiving medical care, she clarified that it is unrelated to the alleged attack.

“I have been admitted to hospital but it is not related to the attack,” she added.
