The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled a comprehensive reorganisation roadmap, including timelines and filing fees for aspirants contesting various internal positions ahead of its 2026 elections.
According to details from a press briefing by the party’s General Secretary, the reorganisation process is aimed at strengthening internal structures, promoting unity, and enhancing grassroots participation as the party prepares for future national elections.
Filing Fees for Aspirants
The party outlined the cost of nomination forms for national executive positions, with the chairmanship pegged at GH¢50,000, Vice Chairmanship at GH¢30,000, and the General Secretary position at GH¢25,000.
All other national positions will cost GH¢10,000.
At the regional level, Chairmanship forms will sell for GH¢10,000, Vice Chairmanship for GH¢8,000, and other positions for GH¢5,000.
Constituency-level positions will cost between GH¢500 and GH¢1,500, while polling station and electoral area positions are priced at GH¢10 and GH¢50 respectively.
The party also announced a 50 percent reduction in fees for youth organisers, women organisers, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Additionally, candidates vying for the position of constituency secretary are required to possess at least a diploma qualification.
Election Structure and Timeline
The reorganisation will follow a phased electoral process, beginning with a membership drive from March 1 to March 31, 2026, followed by a verification exercise from April 1 to April 14.
Polling station elections are scheduled for May 10 to May 16, with subsequent elections at the electoral area, constituency, regional, and national levels running through September 2026.
The national executive elections are slated for September 18 to September 20.
The party also outlined elections for external branches and chapters, expected to take place between June and August 2026.
Polling Station Election Guidelines
The NPP further detailed procedures governing polling station elections, indicating that they will be supervised by a three-member committee appointed by the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Eligible committee members will be drawn from categories including senior party members, former executives, former or current Assembly Members, former MMDCEs, MPs, parliamentary candidates, and opinion leaders.
Elections are to be conducted at designated polling stations between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with candidates required to be nominated and seconded by registered party members.
The party emphasised that all registered members at the polling station level will be eligible to vote, with elections conducted either by ballot or headcount.
Strengthening Party Structures
Party officials say the reorganisation process is designed to address internal challenges, improve coordination, and position the NPP for electoral success.
They added that data from the process will be captured into the party’s database and verified at both constituency and regional levels to ensure transparency and accuracy.
