In a statement dated April 8, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party disclosed that the updated guidelines have been approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

“The National Executive Committee (NEC), acting for and on behalf of the National Council in accordance with Article 10(4)(1) of the Party Constitution, considered and approved the revised Guidelines at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the party Headquarters.,” it stated.
The revised guidelines span polling station, electoral area and branch elections as the party moves to strengthen internal processes, improve transparency and ensure a more credible electoral system.
Among the key changes is the introduction of both in-person voting and the use of an official NPP e-voting platform for elections at various levels, including polling station, electoral area, branch, and chapter.
The guidelines also outline clear eligibility criteria, stating that only members who have been active in the party for at least two years can contest or vote in certain internal elections.
At the polling station level, provisions have been made for the suspension of elections in disputed areas, particularly where concerns arise over voter registration or access to the membership register.
Such cases will be referred to higher party structures for resolution.
NPP has also introduced a clear dispute-resolution mechanism. Elections can now be suspended where concerns arise, particularly in cases involving members who registered online but are unable to verify their details in the register.
Such disputes will be escalated through the party’s structures for resolution.
“Where a Polling Station Elections Committee is unable to conduct elections due to concerns by party members including those who registered online but were denied access to write their names in the polling station membership register, the Committee shall suspend the elections at that polling station and refer the matter to the Regional Steering Committee through the Constituency Executive Committee for appropriate direction.
The NPP has also placed a cap on polling station elections, limiting committees to a maximum of 25.
“Each Polling Station Elections Committee shall conduct up to twenty-five (25) Polling Station Executives’ elections”, the statement said.
The party has also formed an Ad-hoc Committee to develop a comprehensive manual detailing the roles of party officers.
“The National Executive Committee has constituted an Ad-Hoc Committee to develop a comprehensive Manual outlining the specific roles and responsibilities of Party Officers at all levels”, it noted.
The party believes these reforms will enhance credibility and strengthen its internal democratic processes, ensuring that future elections are more transparent, inclusive, and efficiently managed.
“These adjustments are aimed at strengthening internal democracy, enhancing transparency, and ensuring a smooth, credible, and inclusive electoral process across all levels of the party”, it stated.
The NPP further entreated all stakeholders to, “familiarise themselves with these revised Guidelines and to adhere strictly to their provisions. These adjustments are aimed at strengthening internal democracy, enhancing transparency, and ensuring a smooth, credible, and inclusive electoral process across all levels of the party”.
