Former Member of Parliament for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Betty Krosbi Mensah Syeram, has challenged young women to stop waiting for opportunities and instead prepare themselves to become “undeniable” in leadership positions.

Speaking as a guest speaker at a TEIN – African University College of Communications (AUCC) Women’s Wing summit under the theme “Young Women In Politics: Positioning for Leadership, Visibility and Impact,” Mensah urged young women in the party to adequately prepare and position themselves to take up leadership roles.

“If leadership opportunities were handed to you today, would you be truly ready or merely interested?” she questioned.

While emphasising the need to build capacity, she told participants that leadership begins now, whether in their classrooms, student groups, and communities, rather than in Parliament or government.

“Opportunities do not change people. Prepared people take up opportunities,” she said, urging the young women to be informed, confident, and intentional.

Drawing from her own journey, Betty Krosbi Mensah narrated how she entered Parliament at age 32 and initially felt invisible among seasoned leaders but strived to make her presence count.

“Stop waiting to be chosen. Start preparing to be undeniable,” she added.

Betty Seyram Krosbi Mensah who currently serves as Senior Technical Advisor to the Minister for Youth and Sports and National Coordinator for the National Recreation and Wellness Programme, encouraged participants to build both skills and social capital instead of relying solely and waiting on financial resources.
