ANC Sits Third In Tshwane As Vote Counting Reaches 78%

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is leading the 2026 Local Government Election results in the City of Tshwane, with ActionSA occupying second place as vote counting continues.

The latest figures, recorded at 04:39 with 78% of the votes counted, show the DA securing 32.07% of the vote. ActionSA follows with 23.09%, while the African National Congress (ANC) is in third position with 21.76%.

The figures place ActionSA ahead of the ANC in the ongoing contest, with the two parties separated by 1.33 percentage points. However, counting is not yet complete, meaning the standings could still change as more results are processed.

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) has recorded 6.82%, followed by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) with 6.09%. The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has so far secured 2.17%, while the South African Communist Party (SACP) stands at 1.28%.

Other parties have recorded smaller shares of the vote. The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has 0.58%, RISE Mzansi has 0.55%, and the African Independent Congress (AIC) has 0.46%.

The results also show the South African People’s Party (SPPSA) at 0.44%, while Mayibuye has received 0.32%.

With more than three-quarters of the votes counted, the DA currently holds the largest share among the parties listed. ActionSA’s second-place position and the ANC’s third-place standing are also key features of the emerging results.

The figures represent an ongoing count rather than final election outcomes. The remaining 22% of votes still to be processed could affect the parties’ final percentages and the eventual composition of the Tshwane municipal council.

Counting remains underway, and further updates are expected as the Electoral Commission processes the outstanding results.
