Chelle makes late changes to Super Eagles squad for Afcon qualifiers

According to a report by OwnGoalNigeria on Friday, November 6, 2026, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made late changes to his squad for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Tanzania.

Chelle has trimmed his provisional list of 40 players to approximately 30 ahead of the two crucial fixtures.

Twenty-two-year-old David Moses is among the new faces who will not be part of the final squad after initially receiving an invitation from the Franco-Malian tactician.

The Slavia Prague midfielder had attracted attention with his performances for the Czech Republic-based club, earning his first invitation to the senior national team ahead of the November international break.

However, he has now been left out as Chelle settles on his final selection for the Tanzania encounters.

Nigeria will host Tanzania in the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on November 13 before travelling to Dar es Salaam for the return fixture on November 17.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to officially announce the final squad after the conclusion of this weekend’s European club fixtures.

Players selected for the double-header are expected to begin arriving in Uyo from Monday, November 9, as preparations intensify for the two matches.

The Super Eagles will be looking to secure positive results against Tanzania as they continue their campaign to qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
