A police officer has been captured in an unusual, touching moment offering help to a driver who was pretended to be stranded on a highway in Accra.

In the video making waves on social media, the driver, who identified himself as Francis, appeared to be parked at the shoulders of a road and was approached by the police officer.

When asked, Francis then explained that he had run out of fuel and did not have money to get more from the closest filling station.

The police officer was then seen checking the license of the car and, upon verification, handed back the license to the man and then sent some cash via Mobile Money to Francis to buy the needed fuel for his car.

But in a shocking turn of events, Francis then asked, “Why did you choose to give me money?”

The police officer replied, “You said you were short of fuel, so I had to support you.”

The driver quickly handed over a heavy wad of cash to the police officer, saying, “God bless you,” which instantly left the officer pleasantly surprised.

The driver, explaining his motivation to the officer, said, “You made me feel like I have a helper. God bless you,” putting a smile on the face of the policeman.

The video has prompted positive reactions from viewers on social media, many of whom have commended the selfless police officer and the Ghana Police Service for training emotionally-intelligent and kind officers in their units.
