Minority Walks Out of Parliament After Speaker Bagbin Orders Samuel Abu Jinapor Out of Chamber

According to a report by GHOne TV on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, tension erupted in Parliament after Speaker Alban Bagbin ordered the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, to leave the chamber over what he described as unparliamentary language.

The incident reportedly occurred during parliamentary proceedings when the former Lands and Natural Resources Minister made remarks that the Speaker considered inappropriate and against the rules governing parliamentary conduct.

Speaker Bagbin subsequently directed Abu Jinapor to leave the chamber. However, the decision did not go down well with members of the Minority Caucus, who strongly disagreed with the Speaker’s action.

Following the directive, members of the Minority staged a walkout in protest, leaving the chamber to express their displeasure over the treatment of their colleague.

The development created tension in the House and attracted attention as parliamentary proceedings were disrupted by the disagreement between the Speaker and the Minority Caucus.

The Minority’s decision to walk out appeared to be a show of solidarity with Abu Jinapor and a protest against the Speaker’s handling of the matter.

Parliament is expected to continue its business despite the incident, but the development has once again drawn attention to disagreements between the Speaker and members of the Minority over parliamentary procedures and the conduct of lawmakers.

The incident also highlights the importance of maintaining order and mutual respect during parliamentary debates, particularly when disagreements arise between members and the presiding officer.

The walkout has added another moment of tension to proceedings in Ghana’s Parliament, with the actions of the Speaker and the response of the Minority likely to generate further public discussion.
